On May 14th, the father of a soldier named Shuai Fu from a certain unit came to the Veterans Affairs Bureau of Langxi County, Anhui Province, to present a banner of gratitude and called Shuai Fu to reassure him. He said, “Under the coordination of the Veterans Affairs Bureau, the compensation was credited to your account very soon. You can focus on your work in the military and perform well. Don’t worry about us.”
In 2021, Langxi County became the first in Anhui Province to introduce a new policy to support the military: the county’s finance would fully fund the purchase of accidental injury insurance and accidental medical insurance for all conscripts’ families in the county.
Swift Response to a Tragic Incident
Not long ago, Svejk’s mother passed away in an accident. Upon learning of the situation, the Veterans Service Station of Feili Town, Langxi County, immediately reported it to the Veterans Affairs Bureau of Langxi County. The bureau promptly contacted the underwriting institution to open a green channel for claims settlement and simultaneously coordinated with the county’s People’s Armed Forces Department to visit the families of military personnel to offer condolences and provide psychological counseling. Meanwhile, the “Help and Handle on Behalf” specialist from the Veterans Service Station of Feili Town has been following up throughout the process, coordinating with insurance companies to assist military families in collecting and submitting claim materials as needed. Three days later, Svejk’s family received the compensation.
Continuous Support for Military Families
Gong Daoping, director of the Veterans Affairs Bureau of Langxi County, introduced that they have purchased accidental injury insurance for the parents (caregivers) of conscripts for five consecutive years. They have conducted precise investigations through the veteran service stations at both the town and village levels, dynamically updated the family information database of conscripts, and intensified coordination with insurance enterprises to ensure “zero delay” in claims settlement.
Significant Impact and Future Plans
Up to now, the county has purchased accidental injury insurance for 2,051 parents (caregivers) of conscripts. This initiative has not only effectively addressed the conscripts’ concerns but also stimulated the enthusiasm of eligible young people to join the military.
Looking ahead, the county will continue to improve the three-dimensional military support system of “policy guarantee + social respect.” Relying on the “Military-Respecting Enterprise Alliance,” they will create characteristic brands such as “Military Service Station” and “Dual Support Co-construction Hospital,” providing “the most dedicated service” for the “most adorable people,” according to the person in charge of the county’s dual support office.
