Singlife has enhanced its travel insurance by introducing a turbulence-related injury benefit. Now, all policyholders can receive a one-time payout of up to US$780 (S$1,000) if they are hurt by turbulence during a flight. This addition comes at no extra cost to any of the existing plans: Travel Lite, Travel Plus, and Travel Prestige.
Fixed Hospital Income Payout by Plan Tier
Under the new feature, injured passengers receive a fixed hospital income, scaled to their plan:
Travel Lite & Travel Plus: US$390 (S$500)
Travel Prestige: US$780 (S$1,000)
The top-tier Travel Prestige plan also includes cover for overseas intensive care unit (ICU) admission.
Other Recent Enhancements
This turbulence benefit is part of a suite of recent upgrades to Singlife’s travel coverage:
Pre-existing condition option: Available as an add-on.
Rain interruption payout: Up to US$117 (S$150) if heavy rain disrupts activities.
Unlimited overseas medical cover: Standard on Travel Prestige plans.
Trip cancellation and emergency expense cover: Includes lost loyalty points and pregnancy-related emergencies.
What This Means for Travelers
By adding the turbulence injury payout, Singlife aims to fill a gap in flight injury protection. Policyholders now have extra financial support if they need hospital care after unexpected in-air turbulence. This move strengthens Singlife’s position in the competitive travel insurance market and offers customers greater peace of mind on their journeys.
