Trump said the consumer price index performed well and once again called on the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates
On June 11th, US President Donald Trump posted on his social media platform “Real Social” that the latest data of the US Consumer Price Index (CPI) was satisfactory and he called on the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates by one percentage point.
Trump argued that such a move would save the United States a large amount of expenditure on the interest of debts due soon, emphasizing that “this is very important.”
Trump has previously criticized Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell for not lowering interest rates, contrasting the Fed’s inaction with the European Central Bank’s (ECB) multiple rate cuts.
He has repeatedly called for the Fed to implement more accommodative monetary policies, including rate cuts, to boost the US economy.
