Alps, a specialist managing general agent (MGA) known for providing insurance add-ons, legal expenses, and claims services to intermediaries, has signed a new three-year capacity agreement with AmTrust International, part of AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. This deal will increase Alps’ mandate by 25%, offering additional Class A capacity to support its plans for expanding its product range and claims business.
Agreement Covers Multiple Legal Protection and Add-On Products
Under the new terms, Alps will contract directly with AmTrust to offer a variety of insurance products. These include auto, landlord, home, and commercial legal protection, alongside roadside assistance, auto excess, and self-employed add-ons. These products are distributed through Alps’ quote and bundling platform. The agreement also features sub-licensing and expanded claims processing through Alps’ affiliated law firm, Alps Legal.
Rigorous Audit Validates Alps’ Operational Strength
The signing followed a detailed audit process designed to assess Alps’ operational capabilities and its ability to deliver effective insurance solutions to intermediaries. Alps is actively exploring opportunities to develop new products and further grow its claims business.
Full-Power Model Gives Alps Direct Control Over Policies and Claims
Alps transferred its landlord legal expenses portfolio to AmTrust in December last year. The new agreement adopts a full-power model, enabling Alps to directly manage policy administration and claims processing via Alps Legal.
Updated Policy Wording Enhances Coverage and Flexibility
The transformation includes updates to policy wording aligned with industry benchmarks and broker feedback. Notable improvements include expanded coverage for lease breaches like anti-social behavior and more flexible terms regarding claims reporting and cancellation.
Policyholders can now claim compensation for court appearance costs. These updated policies cover the UK, Channel Islands, and Isle of Man, with a compensation limit set at £50,000. Claims are managed through Alps’ digital portal, which offers real-time updates for users.
Alps Leadership Highlights Growth and Broker Support
Michelle O’Reilly, managing director of Alps, expressed enthusiasm about expanding the partnership with AmTrust. She emphasized that both companies are dedicated to sustainable growth and extending their market reach.
O’Reilly noted that the agreement will provide insurance brokers with access to a wider range of products backed by top-tier underwriting expertise. She also highlighted the partnership’s commitment to delivering professional support to customers throughout the claims process.
