China firmly opposes the U.S. Section 301 tariffs, which violate WTO rules and represent unilateral trade protectionism. The Ministry of Commerce emphasized that these measures ultimately harm U.S. businesses and consumers, calling them “self-defeating.”
China urges the U.S. to fully lift all additional tariffs imposed under the Section 301 investigation and work with China to implement the consensus reached in previous economic dialogues. Only by abandoning unilateral sanctions can the two sides foster stable and sustainable trade relations.
The extension of tariff exclusions until August 2025 does not change the discriminatory nature of these measures. China hopes the U.S. will take concrete steps to ease trade tensions and create favorable conditions for bilateral economic cooperation.
